MYKITA frames look like nothing else because they are built like nothing else. Every pair is assembled by hand in Berlin from folded stainless steel or a 3D printed material called MYLON, with a hinge that uses no screws at all. At Out to See, we pair them with ZEISS lenses cut in our Kailua lab, so the precision on the outside matches the precision inside.
Engineered in Berlin
MYKITA was founded in Berlin in 2003 by four friends who wanted to rethink how glasses are made. Instead of outsourcing, they built their own manufactory, known as MYKITA HAUS, where every frame is still assembled by hand.
Their first collection introduced a patented hinge made from the steel itself, with no screws and no welded joints. It became the brand's calling card.

What makes a MYKITA different
The hinge
Flat stainless steel folded into a spring hinge. Nothing to tighten, nothing to fall out.
MYLON
A polyamide material introduced in 2010 and shaped layer by layer with laser sintering. Extremely light, strong, with a soft matte feel.

Precision frames deserve precision lenses
MYKITA frames are built to tight tolerances, and the lenses should be too. Our lens maker, Cory, measures your eyes in the frame you choose, then cuts ZEISS lenses to fit it exactly in our lab here in Kailua.
The result is a pair that looks sharp and sees sharp.

Why are MYKITA glasses so light?
Thin stainless steel and MYLON are both very low in weight, and the screwless hinge removes the extra hardware most frames carry.
Can MYKITA sunglasses be made in my prescription?
Most MYKITA frames can take prescription lenses. We fit them with ZEISS sun lenses, polarized where the frame allows.
Are MYKITA frames durable?
The steel hinge is designed to flex without loosening. If anything ever needs adjusting, bring them in and we will take care of it.
Do I need an eye exam first?
Bring a current prescription, or book a full hour eye exam with Dr. Mordue and choose your frames the same visit.
