No — walk-ins are welcome anytime. For plano (non-prescription) sunglasses, just come in and take a pair home. You only need to book for a full eye exam to get a new prescription. If you already have a valid Rx, walk in with it — no appointment needed.
Two different things — you need both. UV-blocking protects against radiation that causes cataracts and macular degeneration. Polarized lenses filter horizontal glare off water and pavement. In Hawaii you want both. Many cheap lenses are neither — a dark tint doesn't automatically mean UV protection.
Yes — walk in with your existing frame and we cut new polarized lenses to fit, often the same day. We keep polarized lenses in stock for this. Call (808) 501-2020 ahead to confirm we can fit your specific frame.
Yes. Bring a current prescription and we fit single vision, progressive, or high-index lenses into virtually any frame. Our in-house ZEISS lab handles everything on-site. Need a new Rx? Book an eye exam and we can fit your sunglasses the same visit.
For driving and general use, gray — preserves natural color perception. For fishing and water sports, copper or brown — enhances contrast and helps you see into the water. We'll match the tint to how you actually spend time outside.

At the higher end, yes — Maui Jim's PolarizedPlus2 technology genuinely outperforms standard polarization. That said, we'll be honest about where the value is for your specific use and budget. Price doesn't always equal quality.
Yes — children's eyes are significantly more vulnerable to UV damage. Kids growing up outdoors in Hawaii accumulate serious exposure from a young age. We carry children's frames with proper UV protection and can fit prescription lenses for kids too.
