Lauren is our optometrist and the heart behind Out to See. From her very first eye exam as a child, Lauren knew she wanted to help people see the world more clearly. She’s passionate about helping people see and strives to make every exam feel relaxed, attentive, and grounded in both kindness and precision. She’s known around the office for her calm, steady presence. She’s passionate about good design, finding eyewear that feels like a balance of function and style, and creating a place where people feel seen, heard, and cared for.
Outside the exam room, Lauren enjoys cooking and baking, and Sunday is often her chance to try something new in the kitchen. She loves spending time at the beach with her husband and two young boys, Ethan and Luke. Friday nights at their house are reserved for family movie night. Life with them is anything but quiet, but their energy keeps things playful, adventurous, and full of love.
Brian’s path to Out to See has been anything but typical. A former NYPD detective with training in forensic psychology, he later shifted into biotech and also built a career as a commercial photographer and cinematographer, working with brands like Toyota, Uniqlo, and Netflix. When he and his wife, Dr. Lauren Mordue, decided to open Out to See in Kailua, Brian brought his love of technology, storytelling, and design to help shape the look, feel, and behind-the-scenes systems of the practice.
Together, he and Lauren have created a space that’s both innovative and welcoming, where patients can expect top-notch care and a personal touch. Outside of work, Brian is passionate about travel—he’s explored over 60 countries—and he enjoys being on the water, playing golf, and spending time at home in Kailua with Lauren and their two energetic young boys.
Optics runs in Cory’s family—his father was an optometrist, and he’s been learning about glasses and lenses since childhood. With decades of experience, Cory has developed a sharp eye for detail and a true appreciation for how the right pair of glasses can change someone’s life. A devoted “glasses guy” himself, he owns dozens of pairs and loves helping patients find the perfect frames and lenses that fit both their vision needs and their personal style. He also manufactures the glasses in-house at Out to See, carefully edging each lens to fit beautifully into its frame.
When he’s not in the office, Cory can usually be found at the beach, out sailing, or catching some waves. He also enjoys customizing watches, savoring poke from his favorite local spots, or just spending quality time with his four-year-old son. Easygoing and approachable, Cory brings both expertise and a friendly personalized touch to everyone he helps at Out to See.
Angel first stumbled into the world of eye care in her early 20s, and more than a decade later she’s built a career she truly enjoys. She has been with us at Out to See since we opened in March 2023. Her favorite part of the job is watching patients light up when they try on their new glasses and see the difference for the first time. Around the office, Angel is known for anticipating exactly what the doctor needs before she even asks and for always trying to make each patient’s day a little bit better.
Outside of work, Angel loves spending time with her two kids—whether they’re deep into a board game (she proudly admits she shows no mercy) or bonding over their shared love of K-dramas and Stray Kids. She’s also a book collector, a matcha latte fan, and someone who can’t help but smile when people actually use their blinkers.
Alicia joined Out to See in January 2025, drawn by her love of the medical field and curiosity about all things eye care. She especially enjoys connecting with patients—whether meeting someone new or catching up with a longtime customer—and she often joins in the fun of helping people choose frames that match their style and personality. Known for her open-mindedness, resilience, and ability to make people smile, Alicia is quickly becoming a familiar and friendly face around the office.
When she’s not at work, Alicia can often be found painting, watching films, or catching a beach or surf day with friends. She also loves spending time with her sweet and silly dog, Leia, who’s always up for a forest walk or a beach stroll. Alicia fuels her days with iced coffee, burritos from Paniolos, and the belief that even a small act of kindness can change someone’s day.
